About

We are the future of emergency medicine

EPR-Technologies Inc. is a biomedical spin-out of the Safar Center for Resuscitation Research, University of Pittsburgh, and is committed to the preservation of human life through rapid profound hypothermia by introducing patented products for “Emergency Preservation and Resuscitation” (EPR) to SAVE a LIFE when standard cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) fails.

Imagine a world where no soldier dies on the battlefield because they didn't have enough time to be saved.

That's the vision that Dr. Peter Safar and Colonel Bellamy had when they discovered Emergency Preservsation Resuscitation in 1998. They were inspired by the Vietnam War casualties statistics, which showed that over 800,000 soldiers died simply because they didn't have enough time to be transported or receive surgical repairs.

Safar and Bellamy believed that profound hypothermia could be used to induce a "suspended animation" state in severe trauma patients, giving them the extra time they needed for treatment. They formed a research team and set out to develop this life-saving technology.

Twenty years and $17.75 million later, EPR-Technologies is on the verge of making Safar and Bellamy's vision a reality. The company has developed a proven solution that has been shown to be effective in animal trials. We are currently conducting two FDA-approved clinical trials on humans, and they are hopeful that EPR will be available to the public in 2024.

The development of EPR is a remarkable example of how research can lead to life-saving innovations. It is a testament to the dedication and vision of Safar and Bellamy, and it is a hope for the future of trauma care.

With EPR, we can finally give every soldier on the battlefield a fighting chance. We can also save the lives of people who suffer from severe trauma or cardiac arrest. EPR is a breakthrough technology that has the potential to revolutionize the way we treat these life-threatening conditions.

We are excited to see what the future holds for EPR-Technologies. We  will continue to develop life-saving technologies that will make the world a better place.

Mission

We will continue to push the boundaries of emergency medical technology, determined to lower the fatality rate of severe trauma and sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) victims.

Vision

EPR: A New Standard of Care for Emergency Medicine

Imagine a world where no one dies from severe trauma or cardiac arrest. A world where every victim has a fighting chance, no matter how dire the situation. This is the world that EPR is creating.

EPR is a new medical technology that uses profound hypothermia to induce a "suspended animation" state in trauma patients. This gives doctors more time to perform life-saving surgery and interventions. In clinical trials, EPR has been shown promise to increase survival rates.

EPR is not just a new technology. It is a new standard of care. In the future, EPR will be used by first responders, emergency personnel, nurses, and surgeons all over the world. It will be available to anyone who needs it, anytime, anywhere.

We envision a future where EPR is used to save millions of lives. A future where no one dies from severe trauma or cardiac arrest. A future where everyone has a fighting chance.

Our Technology is a Medical Break-through

Our clinical trials have been approved by the FDA for feasibility, and we have already submitted applications for 6 pending U.S. patents for our technologies and products. This means that we are one step closer to making our revolutionary technology available to the world.

Our technology uses profound hypothermia to induce a "suspended animation" state in trauma patients. This gives doctors more time to perform life-saving surgery and interventions. In clinical trials, our technologies have shown promise to increase survival rates.

We are excited to continue our research and development, and we are confident that our technology has the potential to revolutionize the way we treat severe trauma. We envision a future where our technology is used to save millions of lives.

We are on the brink of a new era in medical care. With our technology, we can give patients a fighting chance even when the odds are stacked against them.

We are committed to making our technology available to everyone who needs it, and we are confident that it will make a real difference in the world.
